Attics are one of the largest sources of heat gain and heat loss in a home or building.  Conditioned air that you’ve paid to heat or cool can escape outside through leaks in attic ductwork or seams in the ceiling, raising your utility bills and making your home less comfortable.

Spray-applied polyurethane foam (SPF) insulation in the attic or on the ceiling stops uncontrolled air leakage to give you control over indoor temperatures and keep energy costs under control.

Using open-cell or closed-cell SPF insulation can help manage these impacts very easily with a couple of different approaches.  Installing SPF insulation will improve comfort and the indoor air quality of the home, while providing heating and cooling savings.

  • Vented Attics - Applying SPF to the attic floor (on top of the drywall ceiling) improves your building air tightness and helps stop air infiltration from your attic space (with all the dust, humidity, allergens and other stuff that comes with it) from entering your home.
  • Unvented Attics - Applying SPF to the underside of the roof deck turns your attic into a conditioned or semi-conditioned space, eliminating the huge temperature difference between the attic and the livable space. This improves the overall comfort of the home. Using closed-cell SPF adds structural and secondary water resistance benefits.
